The M551 Sheridan was a light tank designed by the U.S. Army both for air transport (with the Hercules c-130) and for crossing flooded areas that were not possible for other heavier vehicles to traverse.
The Sheridan was a tank specially designed for the Vietnam War, where the difficult terrain and the need to transport troops quickly resulted in a tank that could be landed from the hold of a Hercules aircraft without the need for it to land (it was launched with parachutes and with a protection system based on pads that made the Sheridan land softly on the surface).
The Sheridan was excellently armed with a 152 mm M81E1 cannon with grated anima, could also fire MGM-51 Shillelagh missiles, weighed 15 tons, its armor was made of aluminum and its maximum road speed was 70 km/h (it was also capable of wading through flooded areas at a speed of 6 km/h).
