The Leichtgeschütz 40 (LG 40) was a 7.5 cm recoilless cannon developed by Germany during World War II.
Designed by Rheinmetall in 1940, this gun was created to provide fire support for airborne troops and mountain units, where mobility and light weight were crucial.
The LG 40 used a recoilless system, which meant that the gas expelled by the shot counteracted the recoil, thus allowing for a lighter and more easily transportable design.
The gun weighed approximately 145 kg, allowing it to be disassembled and carried by several men or even dropped from aircraft.
In terms of performance, the LG 40 fired 7.5 cm high explosive shells with an effective range of up to 6,800 meters.
It was used extensively on several battle fronts, especially on the Eastern Front and during operations in the Balkans.
Its ability to provide direct fire support and its ease of transport made it highly valued by troops operating in difficult terrain. The box contains 1 cannon and 7 paratroopers.
