The Ferdinand was a German heavy tank destroyer of World War II. It was built in small numbers from 1943 until the end of the conflict and was named Ferdinand after its designer, the famous car builder Ferdinand Porsche.
The Ferdinand had its baptism of fire in the battle of Kursk and remained in service until the end of the war, it had a great armor and a fabulous 88 mm gun, its greatest weakness however was that it was not equipped with secondary weapons (light machine gun) to defend itself against infantry.
