The Semovente M41M da 90/53 was an Italian tank destroyer used during World War II. Developed by the Royal Italian Army, it was based on the chassis of the M14/41 medium tank. The vehicle was armed with a 90 mm Ansaldo 90/53 anti-aircraft gun, adapted for use as an anti-tank weapon, capable of destroying the heaviest allied tanks of the time.
The development of the Semovente M41M da 90/53 began in 1941, and about 30 units were produced between 1942 and 1943. Its design included an open superstructure that allowed for greater flexibility on the battlefield, although it also exposed the crew to greater risks. The vehicle had a top speed of approximately 35 km/h and an operating range of 200 km.
Used mainly in the North African theater of operations and in the defense of Italy, the Semovente M41M da 90/53 proved effective against enemy armor, although its limited production and the vulnerability of its design restricted its impact on the course of the war.
