The M42A1 “Duster” was a self-propelled anti-aircraft armored vehicle developed by the United States after World War II. Based on the chassis of the M41 Walker Bulldog light tank, the Duster was equipped with a twin 40 mm Bofors guns mounted in an open turret, originally designed for anti-aircraft defense. However, during the Vietnam War, it was used primarily in ground fire support, where it proved highly effective against infantry and light fortifications thanks to its high rate of fire. The M42A1 offered good mobility, reaching speeds of up to 72 km/h, allowing it to operate in a variety of terrain. Although its open turret exposed the crew, its firepower made it a versatile tool in fighting guerrillas. The combination of power and speed ensured its place as a key vehicle in the conflicts of the time.
