Description

The BMD-1 is an air transportable armored vehicle of Soviet manufacture and introduced in the armed forces of the USSR in the late 1960s.

The BMD is comparable to the BMP (Soviet solution for infantry transport and combat support), but smaller and lighter than the latter, the idea was to have a vehicle that could be parachuted and a combat zone overrun by the enemy.
